Crash Dump는 오류 발생시 KeBugCheckEX 함수에 의해서 생성된다.

When SMSS enables paging during the boot process, the system looks in the boot volume's paging file to see whether a crash dump is present and protects the part of the paging file occupied by a dump. This makes part or all of the boot volume paging file unusable for the early part of the boot, which can cause notifications to display that the system is running low on virtual memory, a condition that is only temporary. Later in the boot, Winlogon determines whether or not a crash dump is in the paging file by calling the undocumented NtQuerySystemInformation API, and if a crash dump is there, it launches the Savedump process (\Windows\System32\Savedump.exe) to extract the crash dump from the paging file and copy it to its final location. 덤프가 생성되지 않는 이유

부팅할때 복사된 디스크 미니포트 드라이버, 덤프를 기록한 I/O 관리자 함수들, 부트 볼륨의 페이징 파일 맵등의 Crash Dump에 영향을 끼진 구성요서들의 체크섬을 기록하고, 문제 발생시 이 덤프를 생성하기 전에 한번더 위의 체크섬을 확인 한 후 두 체크섬을 비교하여 덤프를 생성 여부를 결정한다.

이렇게 하지 않을 경우 Crash Dump의 생성을 실패하거나 디스크를 손상시킬 수 있다. 체크섬이 일치하면 파일 시스템 드라이버를 우회하여 직접 KeBugCheckEx가 듬프 정보를 페이징 파일에 쓴다.

Windows 2008 부터 백업을 위해서는 따로  Features를 추가해줘야 합니다.

실행은 wbadmin.msc 를 통해 합니다. ( 이전 ntbackup에서 변경 됨 )

슬프게도 상태 백업 같은 메뉴는 지원이 안되는 것 같네요...;;
오직 전체 시스템 백업 또는 Drive 별로만 지원 하는 걸로 보입니다.
아 문서를 찾아 봤는데 이제 상태 백업은 지원 하지 않는 다고 합니다.
대신에 Critical volume을 백업 받는 방식으로 바꿨습니다.

아 백업을 설정하면서 스케줄까지 잡아 줄 수 있군요.

 
단 복원히 시스템 상태 복원이 가능합니다.

백업 시 다음과 같은 오류 메세지가 발생할 경우

메시지 9987, 수준 16, 상태 1, 줄 1
전체 텍스트 카탈로그 '카탈로그 명'은(는) 온라인 상태가 아니므로 백업할 수 없습니다. 오류 로그 파일에서 전체 텍스트 카탈로그가 오프라인 상태가 된 이유를 확인하고 온라인 상태로 만드십시오. 또는 FILEGROUP이나 FILE 절을 사용해 BACKUP을 수행하여 온라인 데이터만 포함하도록 선택을 제한할 수 있습니다.

종종 SQL 2000에서 SQL 2005로 업그래이드 하는 경우 FULLTEXT CATALOG의 변경으로 인해서 발생합니다.
물론 FULLTEXT CATALOG가 Disable 되어 있거나, 문제가 발생했을 경우에도 위와 같은 오류 메세지가 발생합니다.

해결방법

1. 먼저 기존의 카탈로그를 삭제 합니다.
use 해당 DB 명
go
EXEC sp_fulltext_catalog '카탈로그 명', 'drop';
GO

2. 트랜젝션 로그를 백업 받습니다.
BACKUP LOG 해당 DB 명 TO  DISK = '저장될 파일 명.trn' WITH NOFORMAT, NOINIT,  NAME = N'RF_SYSTEM5_NET_TEST-트랜잭션 로그  백업', SKIP, NOREWIND, NOUNLOAD,  STATS = 10
GO

3. 카탈로그를 생성해줍니다.
EXEC sp_fulltext_catalog '카탈로그 명', 'create';
